Gaddi Durbar(Palace) was built in 1908 A.D. using European Architectural design during the Rana regime. It is covered with white plaster and has Greek columns. The balconies of this durbar were reserved for the royal family during festivals to view the durbar square.

During Holi Festival (festival of colors) a colorful pole known as “chir” is erected to mark the beginning of the week long Holi Festival. You can see the “chir” on the right hand side of the above image. At the end of this holi festival, chir is taken to a bonfire.
